This is the preliminary brief about the programme:
To commit to others in a healthy way, we must first commit to ourselves. This course connects Nonviolent Communication (NVC) with Attachment Theory (AT) to support that journey.
Many of us struggle with insecure, avoidant, disorganized or otherwise wounded attachment styles, which can harm our relationships, and stop them from blossoming fully. Through NVC, we’ll explore over 75 universal human Needs--as observed by the Center for Nonviolent Communication cNVC—and reflect deeply on their felt qualities, using ‘Juicing the Need’—sometimes called ‘the beauty of the need’--the central daily practice of this course, to increase awareness and connection to our Needs. This awareness leads to embodying these qualities in life and relationships.
The course also integrates the Ideal Parent-Figure Protocol (IPFP), developed by Dr. Dan Brown. Practicing IPFP weekly during the course can significantly boost progress toward secure attachment. I recommend deciding for yourself on a schedule of IPFP practice that fits your calendar, with once or twice a week as an effective 'dose'.
You can engage with the course at various intensities:
1. Follow all sessions as designed for gradual transformation;
2. Focus on Needs that feel most relevant;
3. Use the course as a resource to revisit specific Needs as they arise.
Please note that when you go only for specific Needs or sessions as described in intensities 1 &2, it might take quite some scrolling through the course to reach the session you want. This is a big course, likely the largest amount of sessions on Insight Timer, so practicing patience when using it this way is key!
Additional practices like journaling, creative exploration, or the session text suggestions can deepen the experience—I recommend to always check the session text. We'll explore 7 categories of Needs: Physical Wellbeing, Honesty, Connection, Play, Peace, Autonomy, and Meaning. Custom meditation soundscapes accompany each category--you can of course also practice in silence, if you prefer.
